Six Mile Road remains closed between Raphael Street and Turnberry Drive in Northfield Township while crews work on a replacement box culvert.

The contractor working for the Washtenaw County Road Commission began the project last week. Crews were still assembling the new box culvert this week, according to an Oct. 7 project update.

Excavation and removal of the deteriorated culvert are the next major steps. The Road Commission is asking drivers to use the posted detour or choose another route while the closure remains in place.

The work is part of the Road Commission’s Six Mile Road culvert replacement project. The agency identifies the project as being funded with Washtenaw County American Rescue Plan Act money.

No reopening time was included in Wednesday’s update. Drivers should check the Road Commission project page for new closure information before traveling through the area.
