Livingston Connect publishes local information intended to help people understand what is happening in Livingston County and plan their day. These standards apply to our news and guides; member listings, reviews and messages are user contributions.
Sourcing and attribution
We aim to use primary sources such as government notices, school and library announcements, public documents and event organizers. When coverage relies on another news outlet, we identify and link that source. A summary based on a release is not presented as an on-scene report. Unconfirmed details should be identified as unconfirmed rather than filled in with guesses.
Dates, prices, schedules and project plans can change. Articles should distinguish an announced plan from a completed event and give readers a route to the current official source.
The Staff byline and production tools
“Staff” is the shared Livingston Connect editorial byline. AI-assisted tools are used for research, drafting and site production. The use of these tools does not establish that a claim is accurate; source links and supporting information matter. We do not use the Staff label to imply a named reporter, personal attendance or an interview that did not occur.
Original work and photographs
Our standards call for original explanations and useful local context, with attribution for source material. Republishing another outlet’s complete article or using an image without permission is not acceptable. Image captions should identify credits and distinguish archival or illustrative photographs from photographs of the event being reported.
Corrections and updates
Send corrections to contact@livingstonconnect.com with the article URL, disputed detail and supporting evidence. We review correction requests and, when a factual correction is warranted, update the article. Material corrections should include a visible correction note explaining the change; routine spelling and formatting fixes may be made without one. New developments may be added as an update with their date.
Advertising and conflicts
Paid promotions should be clearly labeled “Advertisement” or “Sponsored.” An advertisement, member listing or external link is not an editorial endorsement. Affiliate links, if used, should be disclosed near the relevant recommendation. See our advertising policy.
Reader contributions
News tips are welcome through our contact page. Reviews must reflect a real interaction, and users must not post spam, threats, impersonation, private information about others or material they do not have the right to share. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these rules.
