Privacy Policy

Updated October 23, 2026

This policy describes how Livingston Connect handles information when you read our news, use our community tools or contact us at livingstonconnect.com. For privacy questions or requests, email contact@livingstonconnect.com.

Information you provide

  • Accounts and profiles: registration and sign-in information, your display name, profile details, skills, services, equipment, rates, images and links you choose to provide.
  • Community activity: jobs, bids, bookings, messages, reviews, review requests, reports and notification preferences.
  • Newsletter: your email address and the names you enter when subscribing, along with subscription preferences.
  • Contact and comments: the information you include in emails or comments, including your contact details and the content of your request.

What other people can see

Published news comments, member profiles, profile links, reviews, jobs and uploaded public images can be visible to visitors and search engines. Private messages, bids and booking information are intended for the relevant participants and site administration rather than public display. Administrators may access information to operate the site, provide support, investigate reports and protect users. Do not post sensitive personal information in a public profile or listing, and remove location metadata from images before uploading them.

Technical information and site operation

Our hosting and security systems process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, request times and logs to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. Site activity tools record page categories and events such as account creation, sign-in, profile changes and booking activity. The page-visit tool uses a hashed IP value for rate limiting. Operational activity records are scheduled for cleanup after approximately 90 days; hosting logs and backups have their own retention cycles.

We use cookies and browser storage for functions such as authentication, preferences and app behavior. Optional Meta signup measurement is off unless you enable it in cookie and privacy choices, and the integration also checks browser Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals.

Notifications and linked accounts

If you enable push notifications, we store your device’s push subscription and topic choices and use browser push services to deliver alerts. You can turn topics off in notification settings or revoke the browser’s notification permission. Weather forecasts use a fixed Howell-area reference location; these forecasts do not require your precise device location.

If an optional social-account connection is available and you choose to use it, we process the account identifier and profile information returned by that provider to manage the connection. You can manage connections through your account. The provider’s own privacy terms also apply.

Service providers and external content

Hosting, email, security and push-delivery providers process information needed to operate their services. Newsletter information is managed through our newsletter system; use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter to leave the list. Links to external sites and embedded content are subject to those sites’ policies. Embedded media or chat features can send technical data to their providers when loaded or used. Relevant providers include Automattic/Gravatar, Minnit chat and, for optional signup measurement, Meta. A public profile link does not itself give that third party access to your private account information.

Google ads and advertising data

Google AdSense code is installed on our public news pages as of October 23, 2026. Loading this code can send technical information to Google; ad display depends on approval and account settings. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to select ads based on previous visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads using activity across sites. Ad-serving technologies can also use web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers to deliver ads, measure results and detect invalid activity.

Read how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services and Google’s advertising technology information. You can manage personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center. Other participating vendors offer choices through Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out controls. These controls do not necessarily stop all advertising or all measurement. Vendor and consent information will need to reflect the advertising services actually enabled.

Optional Meta measurement

When you enable optional advertising measurement, a successful new account registration can send a CompleteRegistration event to Meta through its pixel service. Meta may receive browser/device information, your IP address, site information and advertising cookie identifiers. Our signup integration does not intentionally include your email address, name, private messages, bids or booking details in that event. See Meta’s privacy policy and your Meta advertising settings. You can change the site preference in cookie and privacy choices.

Retention and requests

Account information and community records are kept as needed to provide the service, preserve relevant conversations and transactions, handle disputes and maintain security. Public content may remain until edited or removed. Contact messages are retained as needed to handle the request. Backups may retain information for a further period after a change on the live site.

You can edit available profile fields and notification settings in your account. Contact us to request access, correction, export or deletion of personal information, including a linked-account record. We may verify your identity before acting. Some records may need to be retained for legal, administrative or security reasons. Rights available to you can depend on where you live.

Children and security

Our account, job and booking tools are intended for adults, not children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate. No online system can guarantee complete security; do not share passwords or sensitive documents through public listings or initial support emails.

Changes

We update this policy when site practices change and show the revision date at the top. The contact page provides the same privacy-request contact channel.
